The Hutchinson team is looking to hiring a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering. The ME Manager is responsible for the improvement and sustaining of processes and procedures of existing Production products and the efficient and timely transition of new products going into Production.

Responsibilities

As a people-first leader, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for developing and empowering engineering talent while fostering strong collaboration across value streams, departments, and New Product Development teams. This role emphasizes coaching, mentorship, and team engagement to build a high-performing engineering group that delivers innovative, reliable, and cost-effective processes in alignment with business and customer needs.

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Process Engineering team by providing mentorship, structured training opportunities, and regular feedback to build technical mastery, problem-solving skills, and leadership capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration by partnering closely with cross-functional departments, value streams, and New Product Development teams, ensuring cohesive efforts that align with organizational objectives and strengthen teamwork across the business.
  • Inspire engineers to take ownership of processes for products transitioning into Production from Development, guiding them to implement repeatable approaches that balance safety, quality, cost, and throughput while reinforcing a mindset of accountability.
  • Build confidence and capability in Value Stream team members by teaching them to address daily production challenges, equipping them with the tools and problem-solving skills needed to drive improvements in quality, cycle time, and efficiency.
  • Model and champion continuous improvement by engaging engineers in projects that drive gains in yield, throughput, and labor efficiency, while creating opportunities for team members to lead initiatives and celebrate their successes.
  • Champion a culture of clarity and accountability by guiding engineers to create, maintain, and communicate accurate process documentation and procedures that empower Production teams and reduce variability.
  • Develop engineering talent through validation leadership, coaching them in executing OQ and PQs, strengthening their technical confidence, documentation skills, and commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Strengthen business acumen within the engineering team by collaborating with the Sales Team on contract manufacturing costing/quotes and mentoring engineers to understand the financial and customer impact of their process design decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • A BS degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Effective interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt
  • Prior experience working in an FDA or ISO 9000 regulated engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laser micro-machining experience
  • Ability to provide technical assistance in the identification of new products, processes and technologies 
  • Lean Six-Sigma Black Belt Experience 
  • Supervisory experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word & Projects.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work long and/or off hours to support the Company's requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted

Compensation

$105,000-$137,000
