The Principal Chemical & Waste Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials across the facility. This role ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations while promoting sustainable practices and maintaining accurate documentation. This role also serves as a key liaison between departments, vendors, and regulatory agencies and assists others with their chemical needs by sampling, testing, and adding chemicals to their processes as needed. Chemical Management
Maintain and update chemical inventory systems, SDS databases, and labeling protocols.
Conduct regular inspections of chemical storage areas and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
Develop and deliver training on chemical hygiene, spill response, and hazard communication.
Coordinate chemical purchasing, usage tracking, and disposal procedures.
Investigate chemical-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
Waste Disposal & Sustainability
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, including collection, packaging, and disposal.
Oversee recycling programs and implement waste reduction initiatives.
Ensure proper documentation and reporting for waste manifests, disposal records, and regulatory submissions.
Coordinate with vendors for waste hauling, recycling, and disposal services.
Conduct waste audits and support sustainability goals through data analysis and reporting.
Compliance & Reporting
Maintain compliance with RCRA, SARA, TSCA, Tier II, and local/state environmental regulations.
Prepare and submit the required environmental reports and permits.
Support internal and external audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
Collaborate with EHS teams to ensure alignment with broader safety and environmental programs.
Other Responsibilities
Operate and maintain all material handling equipment.
Take chemical samples for analysis and make chemical adjustments as necessary
Active member of our HAZWOPER team.
Other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge of industrial chemicals and proper disposal methods.
Knowledge of industrial chemicals and potential hazards the pose.
Prior experience operating forklifts.
Respirator certified.
OSHA HAZWOPER Training.
Previous training in fall prevention and confined space entry.
DOT/RCRA/EPA hazardous material training.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to enter confined spaces.
Ability to wear SCBA and full-face mask.
· The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications.
