The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, laser systems, and facility infrastructure. This role serves as a technical escalation point for complex maintenance issues, supports preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and mentors Maintenance Technicians. The Senior Maintenance Technician plays a key role in reducing equipment downtime, improving reliability, and supporting manufacturing operations in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Equipment & Systems Support

 

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of laser systems, manufacturing equipment, and ancillary systems. 
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and control system issues.
  • Support equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, and refurbishments under the direction of Engineering or Maintenance/Service Engineering.
  • Assist with execution of preventive and demand maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Serve as escalation support for Maintenance and Production technicians during complex or critical equipment failures.

 

Maintenance & Documentation

 

  • Execute and support preventive maintenance programs, calibration activities, and corrective actions.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and downtime in maintenance systems.
  • Assist with root cause investigations for equipment-related Nonconformances, deviations, and downtime events.
  • Support spare parts management, inventory accuracy, and critical spares identification.
  • Follow and help improve maintenance procedures in compliance with ISO/QMS requirements.

 

Facilities, EHS, & Compliance

 

  • Support facility maintenance activities including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, process gas systems, and general building upkeep.
  • Assist with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) activities including hazardous waste management, inspections, and safety initiatives.
  • Ensure maintenance work is performed in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors as needed for facility or equipment-related work.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Technical certification, associate degree, or equivalent technical training preferred.
  • Experience supporting regulated manufacturing environments preferred (medical device, aerospace, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with basic computer systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with laser systems or precision manufacturing equipment
  • PLC troubleshooting experience
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and calibration programs
  • Lean manufacturing or 5S knowledge
  • Experience mentoring or training junior technicians
  • Understanding of EHS requirements in an industrial environment

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces as required
  • Willingness to work off-hours, weekends, or on-call as business needs require

Compensation

  • The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. The anticipated range is $22 - $33 per hour.
